Emideltide, also known as Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP), is a neuroactive nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, first isolated in 1977 by the Schoenenberger-Monnier group from rabbit cerebral venous blood during slow-wave sleep studies. It interacts with hypothalamic-pituitary pathways and has been investigated in models of sleep architecture regulation, stress-response adaptation, and neuroendocrine hormone balance. Early human studies demonstrated significant increases in delta sleep and improved sleep efficiency following DSIP administration. It has also been explored for fatigue management, withdrawal support, and neuroendocrine modulation, exhibiting a wide range of CNS-related experimental activity.
